Savoring our shared cultural heritage with the Consulate General of the Netherlands.


Sophie van Doornmalen, Senior Cultural Officer, visited our buildings and cemetery at 54 Port Richmond Avenue and explored how our Congregants worked with the Founding Fathers, first to win the American Revolution, and then shape our new nation. Read about them in "Our Congregation in Five Centuries."

We ended the Dutch heritage trail at our first church, the 1695 Voorlezer's House, in Historic Richmond Town. Carlotta DeFillo, in period costume, paints a vivid word picture of 17th century childhood in America's oldest school house to Ms. van Doornmalen; contemporary voorlezer, Warren Mac Kenzie; and history scholar, Saul Porter.
